MPP and Open Source
February 5, 2008
The open source community provides many great component technologies like email servers, databases, directories, spam scanners, virus scanners and more. MPP takes all these different components and integrates them into a comprehensive email security and compliance solution.
MPP is easier to use, faster, and better supported than open source integration tools like AmavisD, MailScanner, Exiscan or QmailScanner. MPP will dramatically increase system performence, save valuable admin time, and our policy engine will allow you to realize the full potential of email.
One of the key issues with open source security is their total reliance on the effectiveness of SpamAssassin and ClamAV. Today’s email attacks often use the most unexpected tactics, and often require the most innovative methods to stop them, which is why we created MPP to be entirely scanner independent.
With MPP you can layer scanners, you can incorporate both commercial and open source technologies, and essentially allows you to use whichever tool works best to keep email up and running. And since MPP allows you to apply scanners, along with our many other configurations, on a per-group or per-policy basis, you can selectively customize performence for just a few domains or for the entire server.
